Dog Training Methods

At Scot’s K9 Obedience Training, our communication focused, reward-based dog training methods are what makes us so successful. Our expert trainer has years of experience in dog training, using dog psychology, tone of voice and body language to teach all commands to your dog with ease.
Our training sessions adhere to the same simple, but effective, structure. Dogs have an innate need to follow an “alpha,” or leader, as they are a pack animal by nature. Our training methods understand this and teach you how to establish yourself as your dog’s alpha through communication and reward-based dog training methods.
Our trainer will visit your home to observe your dog’s behaviour and identify the areas of obedience that need to be worked on. Following this, you, your dog, and the trainer will go outside to the nearest green and introduced to the trainers 3 retrievers.
Your dog will be put on a 60ft training line in an open outdoor area and our trainer will show you how to teach your dog some basic commands. These commands are taught focusing on tone and body language. All successful behaviour from your dog is acknowledged with positive praise and rewards.
Within 1-2 hours of this training session, your dog will know how to follow the commands “Stay” and “Heel”.
Your dog will also be able to follow visual commands, taught to you by our trainer.
Throughout the training session, our trainer will encourage exercise and breaks for your dog in order to avoid boredom and burnout, ensuring that your dog is kept interested throughout the entire training session.
By the end of the training session, your dog will understand how to follow basic verbal and visual commands. As a dog owner, you will understand how to communicate with your dog through tone of voice, body language, and visual commands, and will also have the knowledge of how to continue training your dog.
